Tell us your business story to date...

Superfoodio was inspired by our trip to South America a few years ago. Whilst planning for this 4 month backpacking trip, and with both of us being vegetarian and passionate about healthy eating, we were a bit nervous about whether we would find the right foods during our travels.

However, the beauty of travelling for a few months is that we were able to fully immerse ourselves in the local culture and this is how we unearthed an amazing array of delicious foods, grains and pulses that were new to us. These superfoods were often ingredients used in local cuisine, snacks and drinks, and gave us a real energy boost as well as being abundant in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. Perfect to keep us fuelled through our adventures - from the jungles of the Amazon, to trekking the Inca Trail in Peru.

These discoveries enriched our travels and inspired us to make a life changing decision – to create a unique business, sharing our experiences to all through the Superfoodio platform and products.

How will your business change the world?

Our goal is to reconnect people with good wholesome foods that taste great. Our first step to achieving this was to create a unique tasting experience through our products, introducing guilt free and moreish snacks.

Our Savoury Clusters use unique ingredients and flavours of sweet potato to create a snack for any time of the day, as well as complimenting any savoury meal. You can enjoy them straight from the pack, top on salads for a burst of flavour and crunch or on soups as a healthy swap for croutons.

Our Cacao and Quinoa Clusters bring together an incredible combination of flavours, from raw chocolate to quinoa to make it the perfect sweet treat. We find it's a great pre or post workout snack to keep your energy levels up and recommend it on top of Greek yogurt with chopped fruit or porridge for breakfast.

Superfoodio was born out of a passion for good, wholesome food, encouraging a healthy lifestyle and sense of wellbeing.
We are focused on building products and services that add value in our customers life. Our two current offerings are:
1. An online subscription box service
2. A healthy and unique snacking range

For our subscription boxes, we carefully select and fill our boxes with the latest and tastiest food products that are made with natural ingredients, free from refined sugars or any hidden nasties. All our products are 100% vegetarian friendly!

Every month, we deliver our boxes straight to your door, and include a balance of:
Healthy Snacking - A surprise selection of the finest, superfood-infused snacks, drinks, condiments and breakfast options that are not readily available on the high street.

Gourmet Cooking - Discover a new superfood grain pulse or flour, expand your palate and cooking repertoire with a selection of mouth-watering recipes to inspire you to get back into the kitchen.

Superfoodio’s healthy and unique snacking range offering was launched based on our learnings of running a subscription box service. We found there was a gap in the retail market for healthy gifting and a versatile snacking range. We saw this as the perfect opportunity to develop our own range of four delicious and nutrient-rich artisan snacks that are infused with the world’s finest whole foods:
Our range of Savoury Clusters resemble a snacking nut-based granola and come in three moreish flavours:
1. Sweet Potato, Black Pepper & Cardamom
2. Sweet Potato & Spicy Sriracha
3. Sweet Potato & Smoked Paprika
The fourth product is the ultimate sweet treat - our Cacao & Quinoa Clusters can be enjoyed straight from the pack for a natural energy boost or as topping on breakfasts and desserts.
Due to the simplicity of ingredients of our snacks, they naturally have the added benefits of being:
- Gluten free
- Refined sugar free
- Wheat & Dairy free
- Vegan friendly
- Gently air dried, preserving the goodness of all the natural ingredients.

What has been the most challenging startup experience to-date? What did you learn?

Resource and capacity would be one of the biggest challenges. There are always so many exciting opportunities that we want to pursue, but find that as a small team, we sometimes have to park a great idea and return to it at a later stage. We've learnt it's all about prioritising and focusing on set goals.

There are many tools (most of them free) that have helped us to achieve this. One of our favourites is Trello - a collaboration tool that we use to manage all the key activities for our team. It allows us prioritise what needs to be done and who is accountable.

Automation tools are great to help simplify processes. We use Mailchimp for communication, for example to send out regular newsletters and Buffer for planning social media on a range of platforms.

Is there anything you can offer to help other startup businesses?

We love meeting and connecting with other like-minded brands to share and brainstorm ideas. With the nature of the monthly box business, we speak with many brands on a daily basis and are therefore quickly able to spot a unique concept and brand that we know will thrive in the market. We're always willing to share what we've learnt and give advice and quality feedback sourced directly from our customers.

We've also developed and launched our own product range and so can relate to what many young brands are going through. It's always great to share these experiences and learn from each other.

The UK health and wellness market is still developing and there are more chances for young brands to succeed by working and supporting one another.

Is there any help that are you looking for?

We've learnt the importance of networking and having recently launched our own range of snacks, it's always great to collaborate with other brands and business to spread the word about our business and offerings. We'd love to hear from other brands looking to do the same through cross promotions, giveaways, events etc.
