Tell us your business story to date...
When tutoring throughout university, I noticed that too many children did not have the support they needed to pass the increasingly competitive school entrance examinations or the support to cope with the pressure put upon them. This is an issue that is close to my heart. I strongly believe that tutoring can be something that can work alongside formal education and that it focuses on individual styles of learning. This is how Kings Tutors began! I did a brief stint in the Financial Services and then left to start Kings Tutors in addition to becoming a qualified teacher too.
How will your business change the world?
Customer service is the most important part of our business. We listen to our clients' needs and then put a bespoke programme together for their requirements. Individual tuition compliments what pupils are learning at school and some one-to-one support can make all of the difference.

What has been the most challenging startup experience to-date? What did you learn?
Our biggest panic was in the few days of starting up our business. The name 'Kings Tutors' had been chosen and we had subsequently started to create our website in addition to getting business cards and all of our marketing literature printed. It was only when we tried to register as a limited company a few weeks later that we discovered that we would need to have royal consent to use the word 'Kings'! We would not be able to register successfully as a limited company with the name 'Kings Tutors' without the Queen saying yes. As a result, we had to write to Her Majesty for permission and luckily she granted it.... Phew!
Although it is now an amusing story, this experience taught us to always do our research in full and to not rush into anything too quickly. In hindsight, we should have registered as a limited company first and got this signed off before getting our marketing literature printed!
Is there anything you can offer to help other startup businesses?
We would say that it is important to remember the following three things:
1. Be passionate about what you are doing and believe in your idea! This is crucial because there will times when you doubt yourself and you need to remember why you started your journey.
2. Do not forget that communication is key – talk to others! Bounce ideas around with other people! Two heads are better than one….
3, Go For It!
Is there any help that are you looking for?
We always love talking to people and sharing our ideas! Do get in touch if you would like to collaborate somehow.
